A
few words up front...
My
philosophy of covering somebody else's music is to pick up the structure of a song and
then go on with it, which can turn out more or less similar to the original,
but of course it doesn't have to sound exactly - which means note by note
- the same. That's why I never had the intention to find out how to copy JLP's unique style.
Also I
always prefered to play rhythm guitar and never really got into tablatures. So
here I used them only for some
significant riffs and with the following symbols:
1st (e) string -----2----- = number of fret, where
string is played (0 = open string, no number = don't play)
2nd(B) string -----x------ = dead note
3rd (G) string -----h----- = hammer on
4th (D) string -----p----- = pull down
5th (A) string -----/------ = slide up
6th (E) string ------\------ = slide down
Just
listen to the record and follow the chords, I think that's all you need to play
along. Hit the tracklist target and you'll find all songs in alphabetical
order, then click on the title you want to look at.
Since
this is about music and not poetry, I wrote the lyrics down as they appear on
the records (except where noted). So there might be differences to the written
words as from JLP's book "Go Tell The Mountain" or other sources.
In
case you have any helpful information to fill those blank spots, where lyrics
are missing and which I have marked red, please go to the contact directory and
let me know. I'd like to keep this site updated and make it as complete as
possible.
So any help will be gratefully appreachiated.
By the way I'm German and I'm not
always 100% sure about my English. So there might be some phrases, which maybe sound
funny to you or could be misunderstanding. In case of that please correct me.
