A few words up front...

My philosophy of playing somebody else's music is to pick up the structure of a song and then go on with it, which can turn out more or less similar to the original, but of course it doesn't have to sound exactly  - I mean note by note -  the same. That's why I never had the intention to find out how to copy JLP's compositions and his unique style. Just listen to the records and follow the chords....

Also I always prefered to play rhythm guitar and never really got into detailed tablatures. So here I used them only for some significant riffs and with the following symbols:

 0                                    = open string
 1st (e) string    -----2----   = number of fret, where string is played
2nd (B) string   -----x-----  = dead note
3rd (G) string   -----h-----  = hammer on
4th (D) string   -----p-----  = pull down
5th (A) string   -----/------  = slide up
6th (E) string    -----\-----  = slide down

                            --------b------   = bend (pull note up)

                            ----------------   no number or symbol = don't play

Hit the tracklist target and you'll find all songs in alphabetical order, then click on the title you want to look at.

Since this is about music and not poetry, I wrote the lyrics down as they appear on the records (except where noted). So there might be differences to the written words as published in JLP's book "Go Tell The Mountain" or other sources.

In case you have any suggestions, corrections, questions or helpful informations about missing or questionable lyrics, you can leave a short message in the guestbook or e-mail me: sexbeat@arcor.de.

I'd like to keep this site updated and make it as complete as possible. So any help will be gratefully apprechiated.

LAST UPDATE:    NOVEMBER  2004

Beside the lyrics of "Death Party" and "Come Back Jim" I added some more detailed descriptions to numerous songs. Also I could erase some mistakes, both in the lyrics as well as among the chords and tabs. So this became kind of a revised version of the entire former site.
